Application

For an opaque finish apply 2-3 layers to leatherhard clay and bisque fire once bone dry. The slips can be applied using a brush, sponge and/or a slip trailer. Allow layers to dry slightly between application.

Firing Range:
Transparent glaze will bring the colours to life. (Make sure to use a glaze that is suitable for your clay and firing temperature.) Our slips can be fired between 1020°C - 1280°C, however if you’re chasing bright colours, aim for the sweet spot between 1200 - 1260°C. Softer/pastel shades can be achieved at lower temperatures (1020°C - 1100°C) and the colours will deepen as you fire higher.

Testing:

Although we have put our slips through many tests, to ensure you are happy with the outcome it is best practice to try them out before committing to a large batch or making a finial piece. This will also ensure your glaze and clay are compatible with the slips at your firing temperature. Please note that colour will vary depending on firing temperature and glaze choice.

As always, please get in touch if you have any questions! You can also refer to our FAQs.
